Wednesday 31st December 2014
New Year’s Eve is a little bit different to the other events that I, as a mobile DJ, undertake throughout the rest of the year. Firstly, it’s something that everyone celebrates together. For almost every other type of occasion, some guests will be more emotionally attached to the party than others. A wedding is the bridal couple’s ‘big day’ and it will mean more to their close family and friends than their distant cousins and work colleagues. The same can be said for birthday parties. These are centred around one ‘guest of honour’ and those closest to him or her will be more engaged in the celebration than more casual acquaintances. However, on New Year’s Eve everyone is in the same boat. Everyone is there to welcome in a new year, which means that everyone present is the ‘guest of honour’!
Another difference between New Year’s Eve and every other event throughout the rest of the year is the importance of timing. At every party it’s important to build up the atmosphere and fill the dancefloor as the evening progresses. However, no other event requires this build up to peak at a specific instant. Gearing a whole event towards one moment in time is another unique skill in a DJ’s toolbox and it’s something that is all too easy to get wrong.
While there are significant differences between New Year’s Eve parties and any other celebration, my DJ’s job is essentially the same. It is up to me to play the right music so that the dancefloor is full and everyone has a great time. The added advantage of this one night of the year is that most – if not all – of the guests will be up for a party! This is the one night of the year when pretty much the whole world celebrates together, which makes it a great night to be DJ.
We played again this year at The Ramada Hotel Sutton Coldfield and we had guests even travel up from London to be part of one of the hotel’s great events. We welcomed in the New Year and then all guests were invited outside for a 20 minute Firework display.
It’s been a great 2014 with great guests and events all round.
Saturday 27th December 2014
What a surprise 50th Birthday party wife Emma gave to her husband Paul at the Ramada hotel Sutton Coldfield. Careful phone calls and getting the family to do some secretive work without Paul knowing was a hard task but it all paid off in the end. It was only a small gathering but they all enjoyed themselves and it was a pleasure to be part of the whole event.
Saturday 20th December 2014
The venue was the very impressive Hampton Manor in Solihull and it was the Christmas party for Nigel Botteril’s Entrepreneurs Circle. The room and its surroundings gave that typical country house Christmas feeling with real log fires and woodland grounds. A super night and all enjoyed the meal and Nigel’s speech. Thanks Stuart for your rendition of the Robbie Williams song Angels. Sorry that Nigel set you up for this. Merry Christmas to you all.
Friday 19th December 2014
Christmas party time again at Ramada hotel Sutton Coldfield. Various companies and individuals attended one of the hotel’s festive functions. Again, we played till 1am and there was a lot of inter reaction between the DHL crowd and Walmley Junior School. Another busy dancefloor all night, once we got the special Flambe presentation from the Chef. Flames all over the table and then over the Christmas pudding. A very visual effect. Great guests. Great party.
Saturday 13th December 2014
A Wedding celebration for Roy & Heather was held at the impressive venue of Packington Moor near Lichfield. Even with the large Christmas trees in the barn, the whole atmosphere was great with the subdued lighting. We played a mixture of tunes and a lot of guests requests throughout the night, which was enjoyed by all.
Friday 12th December 2014
Another Christmas party for a group of companies & individuals at the Ramada hotel Sutton Coldfield was a noisy time when we had both the NHS and Gunters Primary School in the room. The floor was full all night, right until the end at 1am. Thanks!
Saturday 6th December 2014
Scott & Steph got married recently in Thailand followed by a party in Manchester then another here in Penns Quay at the Ramada hotel Sutton Coldfield. It was a well turned out party and from the projected slide show throughout the evening, they appeared to have had a great celebration in Thailand too. A playlist given to us certainly had a cross section of tastes which pleased all and we still found time to pop in the odd request.
Friday 5th December 2014
Christmas has started with a large party in the Lakeside room for various companies and individuals at the Ramada hotel Sutton Coldfield. We had a varied request of tunes and all seemed to like those good old cheesy ones. A few Christmas classics too made for a good night.
Saturday 29th November 2014
It was a big surprise for Adrian, not only for their Anniversary but for his 50th Birthday party at the Ramada hotel Sutton Coldfield. Adrian had a few health problems throughout the year with visits in and out of hospital, so his wife planned the night with such precision around everything. The 80’s were in the spotlight again but Adrian has an eclectic taste in music from Country through to Reggae. With a bit of modern too. It was nice to see him enjoy himself and despite him being in a wheel chair, this didn’t stop a remake of their first dance that they carried out a few years earlier. Congratulations.
Friday 28th November 2014
Jon held his Birthday bash at the Ramada hotel Sutton Coldfield with yet again, an 80’s theme. Although a little cheese was requested with some early 90’s dance tunes. The Mayfair suite was well packed, which lead to a nice turn out on the dance floor.
Saturday 22nd November 2014
It was Natasha’s 40th Birthday celebration held at the Ramada Hotel Sutton Coldfield. It was a nice little room for those small intimate family gatherings. Again, the 80’s were mainly on the playlist with a few up-to-date tunes for the kids. All went well and thanks for the comments.
Saturday 8th November 2014
Kate celebrated her 50th Birthday with a party at Stourbridge Cricket Club and with our help. We played many tunes from the 80’s and it was nice to see so many on the floor. As Kate’s Birthday was actually on the Sunday, we obliged and played over so her party ran into her Birthday date. All wished her well with cards and presents, many of which containing bottles of alcohol. Congratulations Kate and glad you enjoyed yourself. Thanks all for your kind comments too.
Saturday 1st November 2014
Graham planned a great surprise 50th Birthday party for Sue, his partner. She thought that she was going to the Ramada Hotel in Sutton Coldfield for a Birthday meal, only to be met by family and friends and us of course. The whole evening was certainly a super surprise and it was nice to have some great comments on the choice of music and that we didn’t play too loud.
Saturday 25th October 2014
Congratulations to Margaret on her 60th Birthday. The Birthday girl had a great time talking to friends and work colleagues and found the odd moment to show us a few moves on the dance floor at Sutton Town Hall. It was nice to see everyone wishing her well on her Birthday and her forth coming retirement.
Saturday 11th October 2014
It was Charlottes 40th Birthday party held at Ramada Hotel. She had planned it over a year ago to make sure all her family and friends could attend by giving them enough notice. I’ve never seen a table so full of presents, cards and drink. Whilst we played a cross section of music, the 80’s and especially the Spice Girls were the most requested. Another great night. Congratulations!
Saturday 27th September 2014
We played till 1am at the Royal Court Hotel in Coventry at the Wedding of Tom & Tammy. It was a nice room as we could set up behind a partition whilst guests attended the Wedding breakfast. All went smoothly despite the Wedding ceremonies taking longer than anticipated but the hotel were able to change their timings. A mixed bunch of tunes played as requested with a more than normal amount of Reggae tracks. Everyone enjoyed themselves and the guests sang their hearts out to those classic songs. Thanks for the good comments and Congratulations!
Saturday 20th September 2014
Well, a Silver Wedding Anniversary in the Marquee at Marston Farm Hotel was a first, as the whole occasion was as though Tim & Deb had just got married. Whilst the church service was a little different, the sit down meal and speeches were just like that special day but 25 years later. The floor was never empty and their pre planned playlist set up by the guests went down well. We even found time to add extra requests from a team of girls who just loved the chart music. Thanks Tim & Deb for your kind comments and of those you received from your guests.
Friday 19th September 2014
A Wedding celebration for Adrian & Sarah was held at Appleby Park Hotel and the venue was also used for their Ceremony and Wedding breakfast. The usual mixture of music from the old to the latest were played and it was nice to pop the odd request into the mix. All went as planned and thank you for your kind comments at the end of the night. Congratulations!
Saturday 13th September 2014
It was John’s 60th Birthday bash at Clent Village Hall and what a great turn out out of family & friends. The night was a huge success with singing, dancing, hog roast and John’s free bar which he set up with proper kegs of beer. The event was not only a Birthday celebration but a friendly village atmosphere, as most of his neighbours turned up too. the oldies and 70’s & 80’s were in demand.
Saturday 6th September 2014
We went to the Ramada Hotel in Sutton Coldfield for a Birthday celebration. Whilst it was a little sad occasion, everyone enjoyed themselves and that’s what the family wanted. It was unfortunate that a young family member passed away 2 years ago and they all wanted to remember him and celebrate the good times they had with him, when he was a live. It was difficult for some speeches but all went well, as planned.
Saturday 23rd August 2014
We went to Stratford Race Course, not for horse racing this time but to play at the SBMCC AGM party. There were a mixture of all age groups and it was nice to be asked to play on a little longer, as everyone was having a good time. The evening had been classed as a Scarecrow Disco and there were some good costumes and obviously most turned up as a Scarecrow. So a little Wurzels went down a storm. Thanks for all your comments and appreciation at the end.
Saturday 16th August 2014
A night of Birthday celebrations and an Anniversary was held at one of Weatherspoon’s largest pubs. The Black Horse in Northfield. There were three ladies birthdays with a fourth who attended on the night and one on the Birthday girls celebrated her 40th Wedding Anniversary too. It was a great turn out with a packed function room. We played till 1am and we still had party goers on the dance floor. The usual happened when we finished “can you play just one more” but we had strict instructions to finish, otherwise we’d still be there now. It was nice to receive many great comments for our services. Congratulations to all.
Saturday 9th August 2014
It was a combined Birthday and Anniversary celebration at Tamworth Football Club. Family and friends filled the venue with a lot of gifts brought in. There were balloons everywhere and the kids loved ’em.
Saturday 26th July 2014
It was Edna’s 90th birthday celebration held at Sutton Town FC. Having played there before, the room had dramatically changed in appearance for the event. With drapes on the walls with little white leds behind twinkling and neat colourful covers on the seats, this was a truly smart occasion. It was nice to see the birthday girl on the floor and after we played some Andre Rieu, she was presented with a birthday card signed by the man himself. There wasn’t a dry eye in the room. Congratulations Edna.
Saturday 19th July 2014
An impressive Wedding took place at Moxhull Hall in Sutton Coldfield, in the equally impressive Marquee. Despite the poor weather earlier in the day, as the evening arrived, guests could enjoy the celebrations all around and took to the dance floor as soon as we started. Guests loved tunes from the Motown era. congratulations Charlotte & David.
Saturday 12th July 2014
A Wedding celebration for Tony & Karen took place at an impressive venue in Alrewas. It was a small family gathering but the dancing and laughter carried on right to the end.
Friday 11th July 2014
A 60th Birthday celebration came as a complete shock for Anne when she arrived at the Ramada Hotel in Sutton Coldfield. Everything was planned with precision. Being a big fan of Westlife & Take That, nothing would keep her off the floor. Congratulations.
Saturday 5th July 2014
Sue celebrated her 60th Birthday at the Coton & Hopwas Club in Tamworth on Saturday. Family & friends joined her to a few moves on the floor. Sue had a dream that the Disco she had originally booked wasn’t going to turn up and how right she was, finding out that they had double booked. In the end you made a wise choice and booked someone who has never let any one down and all went well. Thank you.
Saturday 28th June 2014
It was Sarah’s 16th Birthday celebration at Sutton Coldfield’s Ramada Hotel. A great turn out of family & friends with the girls singing their hearts out on the dance floor. Congratulations.
Saturday 21st June 2014
Mark celebrated his 40th Birthday at Grendon Working Mens Club with family & friends. Even though the main theme was the 80’s we still squeezed in some 60’s.
Saturday 14th June 2014
The venue was South Staffs Golf Club and it was a ‘Captains Night’ celebration. A sit down meal was followed by some Strictly Come Dancing demonstrated by an up-and-coming duo Amy & Ben, who are being recognised for their dancing skills, choreography and commitment. We then finished off the evening with a selection of old and new tunes but some of the guys had to watch the football, leaving the girls on the floor. A great night all round though.
Saturday 7th June 2014
Congratulations to Jemma & Adrian on their Engagement at Sutton Coldfield Golf Club. It was a double celebration as it was Adrians 30th Birthday too. All were fit to party till 1am and we had to satisfy the Bride to be, with a few Take That tunes. I think that the girls had the loudest voices and could probably be heard the other side of the park. Well done!
Saturday 24th May 2014
Local couple Sarah and Mark got married with a reception at Grounds Farm Wishaw. A super little venue in a renovated barn. Despite the meal and speeches running a little late, we got set up as quick as we could and get the all important first dance under way. The Bride & Groom choreograped a great first dance routine which was well accepted by all guests – nice one! The whole evening was a great success and the floor full all the time. We were supplied a list of guest’s choice of music prior to the big day and so we played what they wanted. It was a nice touch to get some great remarks after the party. The Bride & Groom said…..
Booking Steve was a wedding triumph. His communication was prompt and helpful. He played all the tunes we requested and was very professional and accommodating to all our requests. We didn’t want a DJ who made the wedding all about him, we wanted a DJ who judged the mood of the party and kept the dance floor buzzing all night. He did just that. I have never danced and laughed so much in my life. Thanks for providing the perfect soundtrack to the best party of our lives.
Sarah and Mark, Sutton Coldfield
Saturday 17th May 2014
After getting married in Las Vegas, Lloyd & Kate held a local party for all the family and friends at the Whittington Inn, Kinver. There was much to talk about and the weather made it a great day but it wasn’t too warm for us to get the dance floor full. Congratulations both!
Saturday 10th May 2014
It was time for The Coppice School PTA Spring Ball at The Ramada Hotel Sutton Coldfield. A lot of money was raised from an auction we carried out and a couple of other small events. Guests were also entertained by ‘Jack The Knife’ for a few swing numbers and then following a packed floor for the remainder of the evening to those old & new Disco classics.
Sunday 4th May 2014
After a Baptism in Streetly, a celebration party was held at a local hotel in Sutton Coldfield which was well attended. All the children were well behaved and the mixture of music and games was well received. There were sweets everywhere.
Saturday 3rd May 2014
A 21st Birthday for Ben, who liked his Rock music, was held at the Tamworth Progressive Club on Saturday. The function room was packed with friends and family as they witnessed Ben celebrate his 21st with a little too much ‘pop’. They tried in vain to keep him on the dance floor singing and away from his glass! I must admit, the pink dress you had to wear all night was rather fetching. Congratulations.
Saturday 26th April 2014
It was time for a local Sutton Coldfield Dance School to show off their dance routines to their families and have a bit of a Disco too. Aged from 5 to 16, all had a great time and they couldn’t get changed quick enough to get back on the dance floor. Here’s to the next show.
Saturday 19th April 2014
It was Scott’s 21st Birthday party at the Progressive Club Tamworth. All his mates, friends and family turned up for a Birthday bash he won’t forget in a hurry. Its a shame he didn’t want to make a speech but we didn’t push him into one at his request. He wants to thank everyone for coming and gave us great remarks for the work done. Thanks Scott and congratulations.
Wednesday 9th April 2014
It was the annual RCPCH Dinner held at the Birmingham Council Offices, in the middle of their 3 day conference. Although the speeches went on a little longer than expected, we managed to get guests on the floor with some 80’s and the oldies.

It was all worked out well and he didn’t suspect a thing. It was a great night and congratulations Paul……here’s to your 60th

A great place for a birthday party and even a Wedding. Its a shame some friends let him down but still we party’d on till 1am.
Sunday 12th January 2014
We went back to the same venue as last night as it was Mia’s 7th birthday party and despite 40 screaming kids running around the room, they all enjoyed themselves and the games, which brought the noise level down a little, were enjoyed by all. If only for a short while. Happy birthday Mia.
Saturday 11th January 2014
It was a true surprise when Gail & Ian was invited out for a meal to celebrate their 30th Wedding anniversary. Only to find they were greeted by all the family at Newton Regis Hall Staffordshire for a family party they will remember for some time to come. Photos of their life together were great. Congratulations!
